Walter Blanchard Fasser Jr, passed into Spirit on October 26th, 2021. His earthly remains have been cremated and, because of his time in the Navy, his earthly remains will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH.
Rev. Dr. Walt Fasser was born on June 27th, 1937. At an early age, his grandmother introduced him the metaphysical world but at that time he didn’t give this philosophy much thought. He figured his identity was based on logic. Then after a car accident in his 20s, his interests would set aside that traditional logic and his hunger for enlightenment would lead Walt to study the mind, ESP, and all else that may not be scientifically explainable. His formal training with MIT led him to a career as a physicist and manufacturing engineer. He formed and was president of ICCI Handy Hands, a general contracting company. He was also president of IC Consultants, an International Industrial Consulting and Manufacturers Representatives Company. Walt was on the board of directors of many business organizations and companies and was also a member of the Cleveland Auxiliary Police Force from 1995-1997.
Over the years he became a certified Silva Method Mind Control graduate and a spiritualist minister. He was ordained over 40 years ago by Rev Clifford Bias in Indiana. He helped found The United Worship Center in Cleveland and then The Church of the Angels. Rev Walt Fasser has been an integral part of this church ever since and will continue to be a large presence. I know that he will be sitting in the back row with us every Sunday. He was a Lecturer, Medium, Healer, and Blind Fold Billet reader. Rev Walt has served Spiritualist churches in eight states and four foreign countries. He has done extensive radio and television programs in Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. He has also shared his skills by participating in murder investigations and has worked with several police departments and private investigators.
He wanted everyone to know that we all have the ability to connect with Spirit. In a quote from an article written about him a few years back he said, “Spirit is always testing us but with the right attitude, faith, and mental discipline you can find humor and encouragement in every experience.” It was always his intention that he and the church he founded allow students of mediumship to practice and work with Spirit during church services. So many folks from Fellowships of the Spirit and other programs have been encouraged and uplifted under his wing. Now his wings have expanded with his transition to encompass us all in our continued journeys.
Walt Fasser was a Life Partner, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather as well as a friend to all who knew him. Some of the many names he was known by are Rev Walt, Dad, Daddy, Daddy Walt, Mr Wizard, The Maestro. He is survived by his son David, Daughter Cindy and her children and grandchildren. Also, his partner Jeanne, her daughter Gina and grandchildren Arianna (who he called Wiggles) and Nicholaus. Daddy Walt, as Arianna and Nicholaus called him would put them on the bus each morning for school and never failed to be waiting for them to get off the bus in the afternoon. He was so many different things to different people, and he will be missed here on the earth plane. He was a wonderful and compassionate soul that deeply touched all who knew him. In that article written about him he was asked, “Why are we here and what is our life’s purpose?” He answered, “It is really quite simple. So simple, in fact, we work a lifetime making it seem difficult. I believe everyone’s life purpose is to show love for self and other and promote that love through their daily actions.”
Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou annointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
We have come together to mourn the passing of Rev Walt Fasser - Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, Life Partner, Friend, Medium, Healer and servant of the church. We have also come to celebrate a life well lived, a life that served God and all he knew. We come to be comforted in our sorrow and pray that your spirit, Lord would cover us with peace that passes understanding. We ask for strength and courage to face the new challenges and demands that await us. Be with all of us, oh Lord, and give us all a new sense of your comfort and peace. As Rev Walt has moved on to his higher calling, allow us to never forget the contributions and efforts that he made in this world. And let always remember these words from Rev Walt himself, “If you can see the invisible, you can do the impossible!”
Revelation – Chapter 14 – Verse 13
Then I heard a voice from heaven say, Write this: "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “they will rest from their labor, for their deeds will follow them.”
Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there, I do not sleep. I am in a thousand winds that blow, I am the softly falling snow. I am the gentle showers of rain, I am the fields of ripening grain. I am in the morning hush, I am in the graceful rush of beautiful birds in circling flight. I am the starshine of the night. I am in the flowers that bloom, I am in a quiet room. I am in the birds that sing, I am in each lovely thing. Do not stand at my grave and cry. I am not there, I did not die.
- Mary Elizabeth Frye
Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room. Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other – that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way which you always used to. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes that we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of shadow on it. Life means al that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well. Nothing is hurt; nothing is lost. One brief moment and all will be as it was before. How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!
- Henry Scott Holland
Infinite Spirit, that which we call God, we thank You this day for Your presence. We thank You for all that you have given. In the midst of our sorrow, we thank You for Your comfort and grace. In the face of death, we thank You for Your gift of eternal life. In the face of separation, we thank You for the eternal reunion. We thank You for Rev Walt’s life here on this earth. We acknowledge that he will always be with us and is rejoicing, enjoying the blessings of Heaven. We find great comfort the Spiritualist belief that the existence and personal identity of the individual continue after the change called death. We thank You God, that in the days, weeks, and months to come, these realities and the abiding presence of Your Spirit will especially strengthen, sustain, and comfort Rev Walt’s friends and family.
